Stanley Park

Thanks to Vancouver’s first city council, and the British Government, the former British Royal Navy Base, now our Stanley Park is one of the world’s greatest urban parks.

The Park was named after Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada, who officially opened the park in 1888.   “Stan the Man”, was a conservationist and a sports enthusiast who also donated a trophy for Canada’s best amateur hockey team.  In 1926 the NHL adopted the Stanley Cup as professional hockey’s championship prize.

We love riding our cruiser bikes around the Stanley Park Seawall.  It’s great living in downtown Vancouver and riding into the sublime beauty of our beautiful park.   Even after the windstorm of Dec 2006 that destroyed 10,000 trees with winds over 158 km/hr, Stanley Park’s beauty is unsurpassed. With favorite spots like Lost Lagoon, Second Beach, Malkin Bowl, Brockton Point, the Totem poles, and Silish Rock, no visitor should miss this Vancouver attraction. Even though we can’t ride our bikes inside the Vancouver Aquarium, we highly recommend visiting it.  We even have $1.00 off Aquarium entrance coupons in the store!
